Google Chrome has reached at his v3 version.

Google Chrome continues to improve its performance. “We’ve improved by more than 150% in Javascript performance since our very first beta, and by more than 25% since the most recent stable release,” mentions Google.

The release has a new feature of 28 themes

Google Chrome 3.0 has an updated new tab page that lets you customize the pages reordering them using drag and drop, by pinning the pages you use frequently and removing the pages you no longer visit. Google simplified the page by removing the list of search boxes and the recent bookmarks.

Read news fast with Google Fast Flip

Google has launched today a new called Google Fast Flip. It’s quite a interesting feature and i hope it will pe updated and promoted to a new type to see type news.

Today we’re adding a new experiment to Google Labs: Google Fast Flip, accessible at fastflip.googlelabs.com. Fast Flip is a new reading experience that combines the best elements of print and online articles. Like a print magazine, Fast Flip lets you browse sequentially through bundles of recent news, headlines and popular topics, as well as feeds from individual top publishers. As the name suggests, flipping through content is very fast, so you can quickly look through a lot of pages until you find something interesting. At the same time, we provide aggregation and search over many top newspapers and magazines, and the ability to share content with your friends and community. Fast Flip also personalizes the experience for you, by taking cues from selections you make to show you more content from sources, topics and journalists that you seem to like. In short, you get fast browsing, natural magazine-style navigation, recommendations from friends and other members of the community and a selection of content that is serendipitous and personalized.

How are spam reports prioritized?

Neil M Hancock from Newcastle asks:

“Is there a minimum number of spam complaints about a domain and/or SERP before Google reviews the complaint? Presumably you get thousands of spam complaints daily, are these sorted into any order to be reviewed? The most popular first?”

“Outside the Box” Navigation with jQuery

dock1-exampleThe first dock we’ll build uses the jQuery Fisheye Menu plugin mentioned above. It’s pretty lightweight (~7kb with dependencies) but the main reason I wanted to use this one was because it’s incredibly smooth, no stuttering.

As you can see in the demo, it’s incredibly smooth and responsive. The downside is that you can’t use fixed positioning with it if the page needs to scroll as it will break. If you don’t need it fixed within the browser window then it works great.

This is a great example of “outside the box” concepts in websites and provides an interactive and fun interface.

Required files (I’ve combined the Fisheye plugin and iutil.js in the demo files).

  • jQuery 1.3.2
  • Interface: Fisheye Menu plugin
  • Interface: iutil.js (dependency)
