SMF decline or reborn?

March 6, 2010 by stefan · Leave a Comment

I don’t know what to say about all I read in this official post about SMF project. All I can say is I am so sorry that this project is now facing such a conflict. More good developers left the team for some reason. Ok. It is their decision to go. At every moment they can go, in the past, now or in the future. They have this right. Now the left team is trying to make a deal with the others one which now have name of SMF friends and opened another site for discussions.

I really tell you I don’t care about who is wrong or not in leading this project. I don’t wanna know why this conflict started. Simply to say, it is a matter of internal cleaning.  I am SMF user. All I need is to search for new mods, themes, updates, upgrades and so on. All I care is to see this project going on. No matter with who. It is a community project, right? Now, both parts must make concessions to ensure again the power of SMF. If not, we will assist to a hard moment of SMF until it will have back a good number of developers.

Sincerly, I don’t like the idea to create another SMF like platform, as the SMF friends wanna do. I am not against them. But I’d like to see back old days of SMF. I appreciate the work of both teams, staff and developers. It is not easy to code, recode, test and modify again and again. It is not simply to manage a huge project like this, especially  when it is about volunteering work and funds. And I am realist, make this if is possible. If not, there are other ways to make the show go on.

At this moment there is no result from this conflict. I will post later if anything officially is announced on the SMF site.
